World Education

Content Management, Web Design

Currently, as a member of the Web Services team with JSI, I help run the World Education website by providing regular security checks, template and plugin updates, content management, and analytics reporting. I also work closely with the corporate communications team to implement front-end and back-end updates to the corporate website.

In my previous role, as website and digital media Manager for JSI, I helped support the launch of a redesigned website for World Education. I helped lead a team of interns and communication coordinators to prepare the site for launch by adding photos and blog posts from the old website, and implementing SEO across the site.

I actually first started working for World Education as a Staff Associate back in 2017. I had just moved back to the states after living in Uganda for two years, and was eager to continue working for an international education organization. As a staff associate, I had many tasks that focused more on the financial/programmatic side including assisting staff in the project budgeting and planning process, reviewing field office financial documentation for compliance and audit readiness, as well as supporting new business development, including tracking funding opportunities, and performing background research for contract and grant proposals. I was eventually assigned the Malawi portfolio, through which I was fortunate to have traveled  to the country to assist in starting up a new office in the country, supporting the hiring process for local staff, leading orientation for new staff, working with a local consultant to ensure proper registration in the country, and working with the Team Lead on finalizing the program’s budget.

While I am very fortunate for all of that experience, I eventually realized I wanted to be out of budgets and spreadsheets and back in the field of communication. I took on communication assignments through World Education like developing communication materials for the website and developing and implementing of strategic communications plans for the Bantwana Initiative. I’m getting way too far back thought, this was all years ago, I’m talking 2017-2019.
